“She’s loving it very much,” said Mr. Ruiz. “Through the arts, through sound and through music and dancing—the way they’re able to tell such a beautiful story in the history of China—I think this is a wonderful thing. I’m sure many people share that opinion.”
“It’s important to spread this message across the world, and what a beautiful way to do it. This is truly what art is, and it’s great to experience it.”
According to Shen Yun’s website, traditional Chinese culture is deeply rooted in the spiritual teachings of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. Mr. Ruiz said that he could see the spiritual elements of Chinese culture in Shen Yun’s performance.“It’s exactly what you would believe,” he said. “It’s so divinely inspired, it truly is.”
In fact, Shen Yun’s name means “the beauty of divine beings dancing.” Mr. Ruiz spoke of the connection between the divine and human beings, as well as divine inspiration and the arts.“I believe when a human being is connected to everything divine in synchronicity, when a human being is connected to the universe and to everything beautiful and special and natural at its highest version of itself, that you are able to reach the highest heights of your own self,” said Mr. Ruiz.
“You can perform the most beautiful arts; you can perform the most beautiful music because it’s all [divinely] inspired ... I find that when you find that connection within yourself to everything outwards as well, and you can find that connectivity with everything, then this is the result. Beautiful things such as [Shen Yun].”
